Boys Suck has quickly emerged as a major new Boston-based band. The band's clever, startling lyrics and straightforward, honest delivery have drawn fans of musical genres ranging from folk to punk to indie. The Sleepwalker, Boys Suck's primary songwriter, who often performs solo, sings songs spanning a wide array of topics including personal sociopolitical struggles, obsession, love, technology, bigotry, and vicarious living.

Boys Suck has performed at most of Boston's premier DIY/indie venues including The Middle East Downstairs, TT the Bears, and Club Passim. The quasi-monthly Boys Suck newsletter has garnered over 1000 subscribers despite very minimal touring. Boys Suck's extraordinary success and loyal fans have prompted plans for the band to expand from its Boston base with more widespread touring.

Boys Suck has independently released a series of limited edition, home-recorded EPs including 2000's "Short, Pale, and Ugly," 2001's "Fool's Gold Lining" and 2002's anti-jingoist "God Blesse America," which included a song that appeared on an anti-war compilation distributed at protests nationwide. These EPs and other demos have been downloaded thousands of times from the Boys Suck web site.

In addition, Boys Suck has appeared on artist-sanctioned tributes to Jayne County and The Cornbugs (a group made up of Bill Moseley, who played Choptop in the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" series, and Buckethead, guitarist for the recent incarnation of Guns 'N' Roses).

Pop star Mandy Moore mentioned the Boys Suck website (http://www.boyssuck.com) during her MTV program in 2001 inspiring a massive flock of teenage girls to become Boys Suck fans as well as a thank you song to Ms. Moore. In early 2002, Boys Suck banded together with a group of Boston artists who also exhibited an edgy, individualistic outlook on songwriting to form The Counterfolk Collective (http://www.Counterfolk.com). The collective not only became a household name in the Boston folk scene, but also defined a new genre of post-punk, post-grunge acoustic music: Counterfolk.

Boys Suck's progress certainly has not lost any momentum. The Internet label Dead Puppy Records is about to put out a Boys Suck tribute album, "Out of Tune," containing interpretations of Boys Suck songs by more than 20 artists (secret preview page at http://www.boyssuck.com/boyssuck2/tribute.shtml). Boys Suck has also recorded a series of demos and is growing into a complete band in order to record a debut full-length album containing the most popular songs in the Boys Suck library.

In addition, Boys Suck has recently released a music video and made an appearance on a Wesley Willis tribute album. In the future Boys Suck will have a background music spot on a Supercult DVD and will have a track on the upcoming Shut Eye Records Buzzlighter release, which will be promoted to college radio in early 2004.
