I never get to do anything exciting. The other day, my uncle was telling me about all the cool things that had happened to our ancestors. One was a Roman gladiator. Another was on the Mayflower. Yet another helped settle the old west and knew Horace Greeley personally! Still another dirty bird was quite the ladies man in France. He had a woman named Fifi. Even my uncle as had many great advetnures, though for hte last few years, his life has gotten quite lame. Should I try to change my life? Is there any luck involved? Because I am quite superstitious and do try to increase my luck. My personal favorite good luck action is to knock on wood. But not me. I wish I could do something exciting like my ancestors. But I don't. Every weekend it is the same old thing - going to the moon for a picnic.

Ok, let me get this straight. I thought that your uncle was
an insurance salesman who tried to sell Dapper
Denver Dooley a policy. But, when Dooley didn't pay on
the policy, your crazy uncle went after him with a guided
missile! What a crazy Pecker.

WHY DID MY ANCESTOR LIE ON THE CENSUS ABOUT WHERE HE WAS
BORN?
He probably didn’t. Census takers seem to have often asked,
“Where did you come from?” instead of asking, “Where were
you born?”
The person often gave his last place of residence. This can
be a great find. You may have an ancestor living in Missouri
who was born in Kentucky and you’ve found him on one census
in KY and the next in MO. If his answer was “Indiana”, you
may have just discovered that he spent a few years in
Indiana between census years, and between Kentucky and
Missouri.

but you do exciting things, you are now known as the cool
ancestor who wrote to the boys suck advice column, the cool
ancestor who received several replies on the boys suck
advice column, and the cool ancestor who whined so much
about how lame his life was that it made me feel better
about my own life. thanks for that and keep on knocking on
that wood. next caller.....
